Foundational Self-Defense Program

Note: This Course does not meet the requirements to obtain a Michigan CPL

Too many gun training schools spend too much of their focus on one aspect of personal protection or try to teach you tactics that only apply to Law Enforcement or Military personnel. As average citizens, we need easy to learn self-defense and defensive carry techniques that are both efficient and effective against realistic threats that we may face in our day to day lives. This course is designed to the fundamentals for using your firearm for personal defense. 

Course Overview

This 2-hour concealed carry course is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and skills essential for safe, responsible, and effective concealed carry. The course emphasizes safety, drawing from a holster, and key principles of self-defense, all presented in an accessible and engaging manner. We aim to build solid foundational skills, empowering our students to confidently and legally carry concealed firearms for personal protection.

Who Should Attend?

This course is intended for individuals who are new to concealed carry or those who want to deepen their understanding of concealed carry practices and self-defense principles. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and legally allowed to possess a firearm. No prior experience is necessary, but a basic understanding of firearm safety rules is beneficial.

Course Outline

Part 1: Drawing from a Holster

• Safe holstering and unholstering techniques
• Drawing your firearm from a holster
• The four-count Drawstroke
• Dry-fire practice drills

Part 2: Live-Fire Exercises and Skill Development

• Live-fire draw and engagement drills from a holster
• Engaging multiple targets
• Developing the balance of speed and accuracy

Part 3: Review and Next Steps

• Review of key takeaways
• Next steps in concealed carry training
• Open Q&A session

ITEMS NEEDED:

• One Open Mind willing to learn new tactics, techniques, and principles (TTP)
• Pen / Pencil & Notepad
• Valid state issued ID

• One Good Quality Strong Side Outside the Waistband (OWB) Holster or strong side concealed carry holster (IWB) ~ Holster must allow 1 hand re-holstering, no cross-draw or shoulder rigs
• Cover Garment to Conceal Pistol and Holster
• Pistol 9mm or Above is recommended
• 150rds to 200rds of Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammunition
• Min of 2 Magazines More is Better!
• Strong Belt
• Ear and Eye Protection (Loaners Available)
